Meet Ross

CFP® | Founder, Springbok Wealth Partners

I grew up in Durban, South Africa, in a family that understood the value of genuine service. My father ran a financial planning firm and my mother a boutique five-star hotel. Our lifestyle was very much spent outside participating and competing in sports like cycling, canoeing, rugby, and water polo. That outdoor and competitive spirit has never really left me.

I studied at Stellenbosch University outside Cape Town. I started my studies thinking I’d become a CPA, but after one personal finance course I was hooked on personal finances. I finished with a Master’s degree in Financial Planning. I then started my career as an investment broker but soon after I realigned with my passion and became a financial advisor which eventually led me to managing an advisory team at a national wealth management firm.

What I found was a common practice, and couldn’t shake, was a model built around commissions and fees based on how much money is managed rather than genuinely helpful advice. I also noticed that the professionals around me were navigating complex equity compensation decisions almost entirely on their own. That combination pushed me to wanting to build something different.

I founded Springbok Wealth Partners in 2023 around a simple idea: flat-fee financial planning, from one dedicated CFP who’s genuinely on your side and providing advice that is relevant to today’s decisions and concerns. I love what I do, who I work with, and I am proud of the support and guidance I provide. The moments that stay with me are the clients who told me they finally feel off the financial ‘rat wheel’, and the one who said it was the first time in years that he stopped worrying about his money decisions all the time.

Outside the office, I’m a husband to Brittany and a dad. I’m still an avid cyclist and all-round outdoor enthusiast.

Lastly you may ask where the name Springbok came from? It’s South Africa’s national animal and the name of the national rugby team. A reminder that where one comes from matters and to always stick to your values.

A Different Kind of Financial Planning Firm

Springbok Wealth Partners was founded because I believed there was a better way to do financial planning. One that puts the relationship first and removes the conflicts that get in the way of honest advice.

We charge a flat monthly fee, and every client gets the same thing: a dedicated CFP® who knows their full financial picture and is genuinely invested in helping them make good decisions.

We have a soft spot for professionals with equity compensation (RSUs, ISOs, NSOs, ESPPs). It’s genuinely complex stuff, and most people don’t have anyone in their corner who really understands it. That’s where we love to dig in, from vest dates, AMT planning, concentrated positions, and risk management so nothing falls through the cracks.

We keep our client base intentionally small. Not because we have to, but because it’s the only way to give every client the attention they deserve.

Our Mission

Turning your income into a life you love.

We work with people who are doing well financially, earning good incomes, enjoying their lifestyle but often feel like they’re making it up as they go or feel like they should be further ahead financially than they are. The decisions pile up and the stakes get higher, and somewhere along the way it stops feeling like these decisions are manageable on your own.

Our mission is to be the person you call when those moments arrive. To help you think clearly, plan thoughtfully, and make decisions you feel genuinely good about, not just for today, but for the long term.

We’re not here to impress you with jargon or overwhelm you with complexity. We’re here to make your financial life feel less like a burden and more like something you’re genuinely on top of.

Our Values

Strong values are the foundation of meaningful financial guidance. At Springbok Wealth Partners, they shape every relationship, recommendation, and strategy we create. These principles help us deliver personalized advice designed to give you clarity, confidence, and long-term financial direction

Specificity Over Generality

Vague advice costs people money and great financial advice isn’t general, it’s personal. We take the time to understand your specific situation, your goals and your life priorities. We know that the details matter, and we treat them like they do.

Transparency, Always

Our fee is flat and disclosed upfront. Our recommendations don’t change based on what pays us more. Honest and open communication is at the center of everything we do. We make sure you understand your financial plan, the reasoning behind our recommendations, and the steps needed to move forward with confidence.

Integrity

As a CFP® and fiduciary, Ross is obligated to act in your best interest. We hold ourselves to the highest standards of professionalism, ethics, and accountability. Your financial future is treated with the same care, diligence, and responsibility we would expect for ouselves.

Proactive, Not Reactive

No two financial journeys are the same and we don’t just wait for you to call with a problem. We regularly review, strategize and recommend adjustments based on your priorities, your goals, your vest dates and anything else that may affect you, and we reach out before the decisions that matter. The best financial planning happens before the deadline, not after.

Genuine Partnership

We genuinely enjoy the relationships we build with clients. Financial planning done well is a long-term conversation. We’re not a service you subscribe to and forget about. We’re people you can actually call

How We Work Together

Most financial planning engagements start with a portfolio and work outward. Ours start with your life and work inward.

We like to start by getting the full picture. In your first few months as a client, we build your complete financial picture: income, equity comp, investments, insurance, debt, tax situation, and goals. It becomes the foundation for everything we do together. It’s one of those things that sounds simple but makes an enormous difference in how clearly you can see your financial life and the path forward.

From there, we meet at least 4 times a year for focused strategy sessions. Each session has a dedicated topic, a clear agenda, and actionable outcomes. We’re not reviewing your returns and calling it a meeting, we’re doing real planning work from budgeting to debt management strategies to investment rebalancing to AMT modeling before your ISO exercise window to RSU vesting to Roth conversion analysis, etc.

Between sessions, we’re available. Vest date approaching? Email us. Job offer you’re not sure how to evaluate? Call us. Any financial question you have, contact us. That’s exactly what we’re here for.

Why Clients Choose Us — And Why They Stay

Choosing the right wealth management team can make a meaningful difference in your financial future. At Springbok Wealth Partners, we combine personalized guidance, strategic planning, and long-term support to help individuals, families, and professionals pursue their financial goals with confidence.

You'll Always Work With Ross

One of the things we hear most from new clients is how refreshing it is to always have the same person on the other end of the phone. Ross Blount, CFP® is the person you meet on your intro call, the person who learns your financial picture, and the person who shows up to every meeting. No hand-offs, no surprises. That’s not standard in this industry, but it should be.

We Specialize in What Most Advisors Avoid - Equity Compensation

Equity compensation planning requires real expertise – ISO tax treatment, AMT exposure, qualifying vs. disqualifying dispositions, concentration risk management, 83(b) elections, and the financial implications of a job change with unvested equity. These are the conversations we have with clients all the time. If this is a significant part of your financial picture, you deserve someone who’s actually done the work to understand it deeply

Flat Fee Means Our Advice Is Actually on Your Side

When an advisor charges a percentage of your assets, they make more money when you have more money with them. That’s a conflict. We charge a flat monthly fee regardless of what you have invested with us, so our advice is genuinely about what’s best for you, not what’s best for our revenue.

We Plan Proactively, Not Reactively

The most expensive financial mistakes happen because nobody was watching. RSU vesting with insufficient tax withholding. ISO exercises without AMT modeling. Year-end without a Roth conversion review. We track these deadlines and reach out before they hit because proactive planning is the difference between a strategy and a cleanup.

Let's Have a Conversation

If any of this resonates with you, we’d love to meet. Our intro call is free, there’s no obligation, and it’s genuinely
just a conversation, a chance to get to know each other and see if working together makes sense.
